    Central electric Heat
I have a central electric heater. The fan will not turn on when the thermostat is turned up, but will go on when I switch it from the 'auto' to the 'on' position. When on, the fan blows out air that is the same temperatue as the room. What could be the possible problems and solutions?

Hi, there is no problem. If you set on the fan is going to run. To put the fan on is just for create circulation into fthe house. The system is going to take the room air from the return and send it into the furnace (which is not even heating) an send it back to the house. Oh I'm sorry, you said that if the thermostat asks for heat the fan doesn't run, sorry... mmmm so the electronic board is not sending the signal to the fan to run. There are some relays that are supposed to be activated when the furnace starts heating and make the fan run. Sometimes this small relays burns .

Do you have the main breaker turned on or it is not tripped for the Electric heat, most electric furnaces use a higher voltage for the heating elements than the control or fan uses. Also some thermostats have a System setting from heat to cool and it is in the correct position. Check these first. How old is the furnace?

My son's condo has central heat and air, but when the heat setting is put on, there is very little heat being produced. The air coming from the registers is barely warm. Trying to get an idea of what the problem might be. He has installed a new thermostat, but that didn't help at all. Thanks
