House smells like sewer when it rains or when the wind blows
We have been living in our home for 15 years and then has been happening the entire time. No one seems to know why. We have 12 by 12 pitch roof. Whenever it rains heavily or the wind blows, our house smells like sewer. We have 3.5 baths. The smell never seems to originate from our master bath on the main floor but does sometimes originate from the guest bath on that floor. Other times, it smells stronger in one of the upstairs baths. The smell is so strong that it wakes us at night. We do not have a cap on the vent pipe on the roof. Could that be the problem? Could we need to extend the pipe so that it goes above the 12 by 12 roof? Please help!
