Buying a house that is settling
I am interested on buying a house that we really like, but and enginer inspected and the house is settling 4 to 5 inches, there are no cracks or sings of in in the houise because it was design to move together. The house was built next to the river therephore settleling was anticipated. We are hesitating because of the settleling issue, what shoul we do? If we tried to fix it how much would we be looking at?

If the house has indeed settled, I would walk away, it has also pulled utility lines with it and you won't jack up the house, However, if the GROUND has settled-look for marks on the exterior wall-and you might possibly add back fill and compact.
