Need help with a ceiling fan!
Looking for some help replacing an old ceiling fan with a new one. House has old tube and knob wiring. After I took the old fan down, saw the junction box was sticking out past the ceiling and there were two black wires sticking out and two wires taped together. Junction box was sturdy though and the old wires won't feed through the top of the new base for the fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please and thanks!

If this is the old box, it is unrated and unsafe for fan mounting. Go to HD or Lowe's and get a fan rated ceiling box. They sell one that has a side cavity that allows wires to be placed up into the box. As far as the wiring goes. You will need to test the wires to see which wire supplies the power and which one is the neutral. You will probably not have a ground wire with knob and tube. Was the original circuit controlled by a wall switch or a pull chain?
