Bank of America Student Credit Card
I recently went to Bank of America to apply for a Student Platinum Visa card only to find that they no longer offer credit cards to students and I couldn't get a clear answer from the banker as to why. Perhaps someone here might have some insight. I could've really benefited from a credit card :/

Might have something to do with the Global Financial Crises.

After all Students would be seen as HIGH risk lending.

Well lets see, as a student you have little or no income so how would you pay it back? Also, there has been a lot of backlash about these student credit cards because students have not been taught how to manage money properly and many of them got into trouble over them.

Ask your parents to co-sign a card for you, if you need it. Also American Express has a program for students like you. But its tied to your parent's credit.

Or maybe it had something to do with your spending money unnecessarily on things like lip piercings! And expensive cell phones!

Haha maybe. I have a steady well paying job so paying it off would'nt have been a problem. It's for school/art supplies but looks like I'll have to search elsewhere! Ps the phone and piercings were gifts haha

Yeah I can definitely see that. I have friends who just throw money around like its nothing and then surprised when its gone! I couldn't really imagine them managing credit.

Banks are doing away with many special deals ( esp since many of the new banking rules went in)
There are some that at least advertise special student cards, but most need or want parents to sign.

If you have a good job , and just little or no credit history there are regular cards you can get.
