Wife lives in Colorado and I live in Georgia what address do we use for taxes?
I am living in Georgia while my wife is living in Colorado. It's inconvenient but necessary at this time. I have not purchased property in Georgia, but I do have a valid Georgia driver's license and my car is registered in the state. We still own a house in Colorado where my wife lives. What address should I use on the Federal Return and on each of the state returns?

    Thanks for the assist.

You probably want to file as Married Filing Jointly for your federal return, as that typically makes for the lowest tax bill. Use the address of the first tax payer listed on the return (it really doesn't matter which)

For your GA taxes use your GA address, and file Form 500 with schedule 3 - this makes it so that GA taxes you only on your GA-based income, not your wife's CO income.

For your wife's CO income you must file jointly in CO (assuming you file jointly on your federal return). So you will have to report all your income, and then do a preliminary tax computation based on all your income - including your GA income. But then you take a credit for taxes paid to other states (namely GA) on form 104CR, and the result is that you are taxed by CO only on your wife's CO-based income.

The result is as a couple you pay income taxes to both states, but are not double taxed.

And, yes, you WILL file jointly on the Georgia return as well.
