Hi Zall...
Is the pump making a humming sound?
Are there 1 or 2 cords associated with this pump?
Answer these questions and I'll see if I can focus us in to the main issue with the pump, OK?

Answer Ballenger's question first, OK?
Then, I'm thinking that if you have confirmed that you have power to the pump then you have no choice but to lift the lid to the ejector system and see if you can find out what is hanging up on the float.
Why do I think the float? I am thinking something's stuck on the float because if the float was engaged you would probably hear a humming sound if the pump was stuck/plugged up.
Otherwise the pump is gone and will need to be replaced.
Open the pit and inspect the float... let us know what you find.

I opened the lid and found a mess... I've cleared the float now it is pumping very slow like something stuck... I can't seem find where, I've checked the valve.. the only other place is the pump itself..

OK...
Since it is pumping even a little bit I'd flush some bleach into the pit and let the ejector clear the pit a few times... if possible. This should help to make it easier to work on the pump.
Either way, as you said, " it needs cleaning"... or at the least it needs to be inspected.
Any pump that sits idle for a year is bound to have issues so pull 'er out and let us know what you discover, OK?

Plenty of really hot water and bleach should help the pump pick up speed.

I think my sewage ejector pump may be bad. The fuse for the pump popped and when I re-set the breaker, the ejector pump turns on for several seconds and then the breaker pops again. Does that mean the pump is gone bad or do I have an electrical problem.
