Hello,
Let me give some background. We've been having problems with the toilet for a little bit, so I bought an air pressure gun made for plumbing and it seems to have cleared the toilet. I also use chemicals with active enzymes once a month (now once a day to keep the toilet running). Now my shower is backing up since 2 days ago when the toilet was flushed, and the water will not go down. I would try to plunge the shower but I am worried that the toilet will then back up and start overflowing. Now when I run the sink in the kitchen, the toilet starts to bubble up and lose water (I guess the air pressure is negative and it is escaping through the toilet?).

I poured some Drano Max gel into the tub because it is supposed to cut through standing water, however the drano just looks like it is floating on top of the water and does not look like it is sinking into the drain at all. As of now, the drano has been in the tub for 7 hours and there is no change in water level (just a few more airbubbles that have come up).

Is there anything that I can do short of calling a plumber? Is there a way to block up the toilet so I don't have to worry about it overflowing if I plunge the shower drain? Should I try to use the compressed air plunger and try to force the clog out?

Do u have a sceptic tank,and do u have a crawl space under your home.has anybody poured grease down the drain .

You have a serious blockage and need the drain lines snaked out from the roof vent. A air plumger can only work if the clog's between the plunger and the vent. If there's a vent before the clog the air pressure will just go up the vent. Sounds like you need outside help. Good luck, Tom

I do have a crawl space under the home, but nobody has been pouring grease, at least not anytime recently, I believe.

I'm not sure if there is a vent somewhere that would allow the air to escape (when the water overflows I can see the pipe (which is connected to the roof vent?) is leaking at one of the joints, so I know that the cog is right below the bathroom.

If I go to the crawlspace to let out the water (like we did the last time we had to snake the drains), would the water level go down enough for me to use another drain cleaner (this cleaner is the corrosive lye kind which I was told would be OK for my pipes), or would it be better for me to call the plumber?

At this point I would call a plumber save yourself the trouble and time sounds like a bad backup.wish u the best
