Cost of removing elevated drainfield in sarasota Florida?
Am looking to buy a home that will need sewer hook-up and removal of an elevated (plateau in the yard) drainfield and want an idea of the cost. The lot is roughly 80-100 ft wide with the drainfied 2/3 of that wide of that. Also, what is under the grass there. Is it something I can do myself?

Where at in Sarasota? I live in Whitfield Estates north of the airport. We can't even give you a "ballpark" estimate without being on site. Get three estimates and go with the one you're most comfortable with.
and removal of an elevated (plateau in the yard) drainfield
If the elevation in the front yard is higher then the house sewer then it isn't a drainfield,
In my area when the county put in sewers we left the drainfield intact, Broke open the top ofn the septic tank and filled it with dirt. We then disconnected at the house cleanout and ran 4" PVC out to the street. Why do you think you have to remove the drain field but not a word about your septic tank. Regards, Tom

The house is south of Bahia Vista on a street where the sewer has been completed and the roads repaved. The hump is unsightly and there is no room to landscape the front due to the elevation. I'm thinking the whole elevation is the drainfield and septic area. I know a 4" pipe and candycane needs to be installed.

I know what's involved with sewer hook-up because I just did it at my house. What I want to know a ballpark on what it cost to remove the elevation in the yard and regrade.

Again, Since you're already connected to the city sewer you don't need a plumber you need a land scape company to remove the drainfield, reeseed and grade your lawn. Call and get three estimates and go with the one you're most comfortable with. Good luck, Toim

This is a house that I may buy that does not have the sewer hook-up. My current house never had the elevated drain field like this house does which is higher than the front of the house. It seems there must something below besides dirt and sod to remove. I have heard there is styrofoam- am only trying to get a ball park figure on removal aside from crushing the septic. Does it need special disposal, etc.

Call the Sarasota County Building Department for directions. You have me curious. Since liquid can not run up hill and your drainfield's higher then the slab just what kind of a septic system do you have down there? This doesn't sound like a typical installation. Before you go tearing anything up you must first known what you're gettiung into. Cane you call some body and find out exactly what's in your front yard. Let me know what you find out. Tom
