This is my first question here so I'm not really sure where to start. Let's start with love. I love her. She doesn't love me. It's been like 2 years since I last talked to her. I've been dating other people, I've occupied my mind with academics and other pursuits. I'm not in some huge dramatic pain, I'm not screaming out for help, and I don't need her to live my life. I guess I just want to know why I love her. Or why I dream about her. I mean, is that normal? Is there something wrong with me that I'm not aware of? I mean, 2 years, you'd figure I would have forgotten all about her by now. Any thoughts?

Love in all it's infinite varieties will never be explained. First love sweetly remembered for life, infatuations and crushes and obsessions that come and go. Love of those we have known a long time, some we like and some we don't.

But brain surgeons have shown that they can poke a tiny area of the brain and make the patient on the table say they are in love with them (for the brief moment they are being poked).

We form our ideals about people pretty early in life, and this girl may meet that ideal for you - voice, face, gestures, words, scent, laugh.
Many of us fall in love and suffer hugely for a while when it isn't returned. Somehow you have avoided that, and that probably says a lot about your solid emotional base and good sense.

Me? I might tell her just what you said here, once every 2 years. Nothing gut wrenching or needy, just that you dream about her. You never know. She might change her mind. It has happened.

That sounds nice and all but I have no way to contact her. Let's just say that we parted on bad terms. Thanks for the input though. Maybe one day I'll figure something else out for it.
