Which way do I look at the motor
How do I observe the motor for proper direction. Is there a universal method to visually look at the motor to determine correct rotarion. In othe words do I look as if I'm straddling the motor( like riding a horse) then record the counter/clockwise rotation? Do I stand back and face the coupling (output shaft), then make my determination? As you can see there are severaal ways a guy can make thyis mistake in determining the roration of an electric motor

I believe you would look directly at the output shaft of the motor to determine the direction of travel.

Wow.. that was fast,I'm very new here and still trying how to respond... so you're suggesting that I stand directly in front of the motor (facing toward the outputshaft)...

Dear All, Universally it is known / understood that whenever motor direction is to ve viewed; it has to be viewed from Non Driving End i.e. NDE side i.e. Cooling Fan side. (If R, Y, B or A, B, C of supply cables are connected to U, V, W terminals of motors; then motor is considered to be rotate in anti-clockwise direction when viewed from ND end of the motor) Regards.
