    Gator Bite fitting installation
Is the copper tube inserted into the gator bite fitting SUPPOSED to turn after installation? I can tell the copper is seated, and will not pull out, but I can still turn it in the fitting.

    Hi HFI...

YUP! I wouldn't twist it too much, but you can definitely twist the pipe in these push-type fittings and still be assured that you have a trustworty fit.

If you look at the cross section diagram below you can see the seal is created via the ORING and the reversed teeth (grab ring) hold the pipe from pulling or popping off.

Need anything else? Let me know...

Well, many thanks, Mark. That makes me feel better about having chosen the Gator Bite fittings. I'm thinking once I put water pressure on these fittings that the "play" in the copper will be a thing of the past. True or false?

As you suspect, when pressurized the system will tighten up a bit, for sure! Be sure to hang everything real well though as any piping system with improper hangers will sag and will eventually leak!

    Pop back anytime!
