    Frame in for Bath Drain
What is the recommended size of box I should use to "Frame In" the bathtub drain for a basement rough install? I was thinking of using a treated 1" x 10" to make a 14" x 14" box. Will the 9 3/4" be too deep? I was also told to place a little concrete in the bottom of the box to prevent any water from seeping up through the box. Is this necessary?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Dan,
14 X 14"is fine, as is 9 3/4" deep. You can always fill in or dig some out if necessary. Cementing the floor of the tub dap out isn't necessary. We have never had a complaint about seepage but then we don't rough too many houses in a swamp where the water table's higher then the rough in. Besides you might wish to position the trap during installation or perhaps change out the tub later. Good luck, Tom
