    Maximum wattage for a lamp
I have a lamp with two sockets. Labeled on one of the sockets states "lamp 60 watts max". Does this mean for the lamp or for each socket?

Each socket can handle the maximum of a 60 watt lamp, 120 watts total for the fixture.

60 watts per bulb. Otherwise it would say 30 watts.

Thank you, I appreciate your response. However, wouldn't it be less confusing if they said "60 watts per socket", instead of "Lamp 60 watts MAX"? Thanks again.

Thank you. I do not want to start a fire. Not being electrically inclined, it would have been clearer for me if they said "Lamp 120 watts MAX" or "60 watt max per socket". Thanks again.
