    Buying new dryer
Present dryer not working and may not be able to be fixed.

What suggestions are there for reliable new dryer. Need electric dryer... no complicated settings needed.
Do want ease of cleaning filter as well as reliability.
    Thanks

What you can do is get a no frills dryer that has minimum settings. I have a GE electric dryer that has a Timed High heat, Automatic High Heat, Automatic Low Heat and Air Fluff settings. That's it. It does not have any electronic or digital controls. Just plain old knobs. Had this baby for 8+ years and use it daily with no repairs ever. The worst thing you can buy is a digital control washer or dryer. An old geezer who owned an appliance store clued me into the digital control scam years ago and I have steered clear of anything with digital controls from dishwashers to clothes washers to dryers and have done just fine ever since. You need to shop for the lower priced models to be sure you will get a machine that will last much longer than the ones with the bells and whistles on. They look nice but they don't last.

I like brands like LG, Bosch, and Samsung for some major appliances, but for a dryer I would buy whatever's on sale nearby and has decent reviews on any of various websites like cnet and bizrate, Home Depot, etc. I'd go to Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, and Sears scratch and dent stores. A white one with no window should be cheap and all have ease of cleaning the filter.
