How can I adjust the safety settings on my shower handle?
I purchased an older home where the plumbing was all replaced and new faucets were installed through out. Both my showers have a single handle that you just turn counterclockwise from cold to hot. The handles only turn 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up. So we are unable to get the water hot. My shower actually turns 1/3 the way up, higher up than the front bathroom. It gets reasonably hot but not enough from my husbands taste. However my front bathroom only turns 1/4 the way up and only gets to luke warm, which is not making my kids happy.I was told by a plumber that they must have a safety setting on them. How can I adjust the safety setting? I can't find a name brand on the handles or on anything, so that I may research on my own. I can't find a screw to take out and can't figure out how to get handle off. I don't want to brake anything, but I am about ready to take a hammer to it. Help please.

With no brand or model we are fishing in the dark but a picture would help. Many new valves do have adjustible scald controls but you may also have a slightly clogged hot inlet. How about a picyure, is it possible?

Without knowing the name it's a little hard but you should be able to remove the handle and escutcheon plate. There is a stop that prevents the handle from going farther, usually blocked by a stepped ring. Pull the ring out, rotate it counterclockwise so the handle will move further. This should correct the hot water issue.
