    Sluggish and Choppy Mouse
I have a fairly new MS wireless Laser Mouse 8000. It worked perfectly for several months, and is now "intermittently" sluggish and choppy. It will go for days and be fine, and then it gets funky. It happened several hours ago and was quite bad. I did nothing to the PC, and left all apps running, but took a break for dinner, etc. When I returned, it was working fine. Oddly, the last wireless mouse did the same thing.

The batteries are fully charged, the optics are clean, I am running Windows XP SP3, I did not load anything from the CD that came with the mouse. Just using the XP drivers. It was plug and play and worked perfectly for months. I even moved the USB transceiver closer to the mouse today, but no change. The intermittent-ness really has me stumped.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

You might want to install the programs it came with. It may or may not have usb polling as an option. Polling is how many times in a given period (1-sec) that it "looks" to see if anything is happeniing. It could be your usb is messing up. Make sure you have your newest drivers for your machine.
