    I need to put a new roof on my house. What is the better way to go, traditional asphalt shingles or metal and why ?

    There are pros and cons for both. Metal will last longer but costs more and is more difficult to install. Most DIYers and lay asphalt shingles but I know none who can do a metal roof prperly. You can buy very good shingles which can last for up to 50 years for far less money and you can do the job yourself. Do you think you will own this house in 50 years?
