My friends dog is old, blind and deaf and relys on his sense of smell to get around, I'm actually baby sitting the dog and was told to just use luke warm water and salt to clean his eyes that fill with green mucous, are there any herbal products that can be used to clean up mucous? he also has redness around the outside of eye, what other alternatives can I use?

If water is working continue to use it, I wouldn't change anything since it is not your dog..

Green, along with the redness, usually signifies infection. He needs to be seen by a vet.
