Ihave an older GE sisde-by-side frige and the ice maker tube has ice in it.
There has not been any ice made for about a week. Any suggestions on what's the matter? The ice maker had been slowly producing ice even before that. However it has typically made the ice regularly. The model number is TFX20JRS.

You might try using a hair dryer as mentioned here to thaw out the tube.

    Good luck,

I tried that last night... I unplugged the frige and pulled out the ice bin, removed the fan cover (to see more of the fill tube) and used my wife's blow drier (on high) for about ten minutes straight. And no, I did not melt any plastic parts. I then left the frige unplugged for another half hour before plugging it back in.
No luck... this morning still no water in the tray. Any alternate ideas?

Make sure you are actually getting water to the fridge. If your fridge has a water dispenser, and that works, you should be okay. If not, even though I don't like disconnecting a plumbing connection that is not leaking, you need to know if your water supply is working. Shut the cut-off valve and disconnect the tube from the fridge. Put this tube in a bucket and turn on the cut-off. If you get water you should be okay.

I would say the next thing to look at is the water valve/solenoid. If it is not opening, no water would flow, thus no ice. If the water dispenser still works, you might try swapping the water and ice-maker supply lines, and also the electrical connections. This will use the water dispenser's valve for the ice maker and the ice maker's valve for the water dispenser. If the ice maker now works but the water dispenser does not, then you know the ice maker valve is probably bad. They generally are in the same unit, so you'll get both new. It's about a $40 part, so you want to make sure that is the problem before investing in a new one.

    Best of luck,
