Trying to install a Moen bathroom vanity faucet. We have a granite top with an undermount sink. The pivot rod for the drain plug supplied with the faucet will not reach the lift rod strap that attaches to the lift rod.

Do they make longer versions of the Pivot rod for these situations, or an extender piece? Or could I bend the lift rod strap inwards toward the drain to meet up with the pivot rod supplied?

If I have the picture right you have a small round rod coming out of the drain, then you have a small round rod coming down from the faucet, these are connected by a flat metal strip that has a thumb nut on one end and holes in the other end.
You have the right idea about how to make this work, first I would bend the flat piece as little as I could to make all three connect. If you make much of a bend then instead of the lift rod lifting the way it should, the flat rod will bend more where is has already started to bend and it will then eventually break. I don't know why the manufactures have not yet discovered that this is a problem with the granite tops and also some others,

I'll need to bend the strap in about 2" inches in order to get the rod from the drain and the strap coming down to meet.

Hi Scott,

If you need a longer flat piece with the holes in it why not take a small bolt and nut and extend the flat piece by adding a piece of plumbers perforated strap iron?

Its not the flat strap that's the problem but the rod that come horizonaly out of the drain to the flat strap. I either need a longer rod, or I need to bend the flat strap inward 3" to connect to the rod.

As I said, If the flat strip needs to off set and it's too short then take a small bolt and nut and extend the flat piece by adding a piece of plumbers perforated strap iron. Or you could extend the rod with a piece of rod in the same size and a set screw coupling,(see image). Good luck, Tom
