Have you ever cleaned your child's face with spit in front of everybody in public?
I have seen mothers do this at restaurants and parking lots. I wonder what others think about this

I did that too but it was not spit as you say. It is just licking your finger and wiping off a small spot of dirt on my child's face. I really didn't care what others thought. Many moms over the years and beyond have done this without even thinking about it.

My kids call it a "cat bath" and they forbid me to do it. LOL

    I've done it.

A little spit on a kleenex to wipe off dirt. My mom did it to me, I do it to my kids and I'm sure the tradition will continue. ;)

Moms spit is like WD40. :)

No, I have never done that... I remember as a child having that done to me. Disgusting. I have however dipped the napkin in the ice water glass before wiping their face, I remember that to and thought as a child it was gross and vowed not to do that to my own... but I did do the napkin in the water glass, Just not the "spit and polish"...

Spit and polish, is just a saying. My son hated it too, but it wasn't actually spit. It was a little moisture from my tongue. Spit and Polish actually refers to a quick shoeshine from the old days. Spit was actually used then because it brought up the shine from the shoe polish.

Yeah, I have been around long enough to know that "spit and polish" is a term that was used for polishing/cleaning shoes. I was saying it "tongue in cheek" as in humor.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wouldn't have known you meant it in a humorous way; maybe unless you put a smiley face beside it to indicate that.
