    Does the drain need to be in the middle of the shower bed. If it does why?

    Hi,

    No, the drain does not have to be center of the shower bed, stall, or pan. You can offset with 1/16th, 1/8th, or 1/6th bend just to avoid something if depth allows it. THANKS

    Nope! The drain may be placed anyplace the shower floor slopes to it.

    My old shower was a 42"x42" and we are expanding it 18" in one direction and 8" in the other. We are wondering if the drain needs to be moved more to the center of the mud bed that we will be creating?

    If it's a concern then center the drain but it's not necessary if the shower floor slopes to the drain. Good luck, Tom

    I need to know because we are changing the size and shape of the shower. The drain will no longer be in the middle of the shower, but off set by several inches.

    The only problem with off-center drain location is that you will have more visible slope on the short side.

    I don't know! But I figure an little more slope on one side is worth is a small price to pay for not having to iopen up the floor and moving the drain. My shower has a end drain and it presents no problem for me. It's "dealers choice"
