Quit school due to parent's eviction and this was a while ago. But at any rate, I'd like to get my G.E.D. and to do so it costs like 50$. I don't have this type of money my fiancé and I are having enough $ issues. Any places to get it for free?

Wow, people can be kind of harsh on here hey? I think sometimes when we read these questions we forget that we are all only human and make mistakes and later in life wish we could go back and change them. But we cant. All we can do is recognize that we made a mistake and do something to fix it. Which is exactly what your doing. Good for you for recognizing the importance of an education. I only asked the question because if she was still of high school age then it would be the school's responsibility to pay for her GED test. Otherwise she will be forced to pay for the test. I was in no way being harsh

I'll clear this up, hehe. I quit because my floks got evicted 2 weeks b/4 graduation. Around a year ago. My mom and dad went serperate ways forgetting that I was still in school and legally must provide education. So I had to quit because otherwise I'd have to restart 12th due to changes in other school's systems.--went to school's and asked personally. So it was hard to quit with everyone thinking I was doing something wrong and my family was retarded about it too. First of all, I liked learning. I'm not like all the other kid's who quit because they're too lazy. I want someone to tell me its all right, that I'm not bad it was the sad situation. I moved to my friend's until she moved to SC. All I want is to get a ged sometime. But I isn't got $. This is a hard topic for me considering my folks left me to rot. My mom is in a home with Pick's so she has problems and my dad has the mentality of a 10 year old. --Doc said. So all I have for help is my fiancé. I have no family.

Please do not take my question as a slam... it was used to gather more information so that I can better help you. If you were still of school age, the school would be required to offer you a GED test. However, since you are no longer of school age things are different.

Many school districts offer adult education classes and will send out pamphlets with the classes that are offered. In those pamphlets are GED classes that are offered in your area. Many times they meet at night, and if there is a Community College near you they can be offered there as well.

GED tests do have a fee related to them. Sometimes they are incorporated into the class fee, sometimes they are on their own. Most communities make you take the GED class prior to taking the actual test. You can inquire with the district or college that is offering the course as to financial aid.

I think it is great that you are furthering you education. Sometimes life hands us too much and we need to step back and get our life back into focus. It seems like you have done that successfully, and now you are ready to move forward. Congrats!!

You can probably go to your local community college and apply for financial aid from the state to pay for it. Most community college offer GED classes. Good luck!!
By the way, all of those other kids who you assume quit because they are "lazy" may also have had difficulties just like you. Some at home, some with learning, some with health. Other people have problems just like you.

Most of the GED will have some min costs. Including testing fees.
You should talk to the administrators of the program and see if they have any systems or programs for funding.

Here the Community Action Agency offers help in getting the GED free. Now the Community Action Agency is a federal program, so it should be in all states. If it is free in all states, I do not know. But something like $50.00 - could an agency like the Salvation Army help you out in that?

Have you thought about something like Job Corps? They will help an enrollee get a GED. Ask your local Job Service. They have vocational counselors that should be able to point you in the right direction. They would know of programs and funding.
