Fake name on a marriage license needs to be amended to apply for green card?
I was entered into the United States when I was 8 years old. I was entered on the plane with a fake passport and ever since I've been using my real name. I used my real name for school and college. I'm currently here illegally. I want to start my process of application for citizenship but there is a problem. My lawyer told me to marry under the name I entered with and so I did. Before we started the application he realized I was finger printed under my real name so if I were to apply my finger prints would show already in the system. So the only solution is to change my fake name to my real name (which doesn't have a visa) on the marriage license. How do I go about doing so? And will I still be able to obtain a green card? I reside in Massachusetts.

No disrespect intended, but I would question the advice of an attorney that advises continuing a fraud. Many reasons, but the most important is that you sign the application under penalty of perjury, so you cannot lie, and it is not your name. How are you going to get a birth certificate under your false name? What if there is a criminal record or other immigration violation associated with that name? Think about it.

I would advise that you use your correct name. You will qualify for a waiver for the misrepresentation as you were a minor, especially if you did not continue to use that name, seek any immigration benefits under that name or made any false claim to citizenship.

But, if you continue to make a misrepresentation, you can be denied the benefit you are seeking. There comes a time, when you must stop lying if you want to do it right. The law is on your side.

Congratulations on your marriage and good luck.

I want to use my correct name. I used my real name throughout my stay here as I stated for school, college and all that. But how do I go about fixing the marriage certificate?

Here lies the problem sir. I don't know how to correct a marriage license. If that is the case, my lawyer has told me that my case is basically settled since I will be coming clean with what has happen. He toldme as an 8 year old I am not responsible

Not responsible for the entry with a passport not of my name. Which he mentioned a waiver? Aside from that. I entered the country with the "fake name" and never used it until this past month of my marriage. I would have applied for citizenship

Under that name but if I did, my finger prints are already in the system under my real name. My finger prints were taken when I drove to my school without a license and I was pulled over. I never committed a crime. I actually almost done with my

If it is possibly easier for you, you can email me directly at [email protected] I really appreciate the help. I tried Yahoo answers but got nothing other than racial slurs and go back to your own country.

First I am a moderator, So this is more a order than a request.

STOP, answering using the comment feature , few people read them. Answer follow up by ANSWERING your own question, this places your answer in a box like this.

Also because you were doing this, and then broke more rules by posting a email address ( no off board contact is allowed, many people here can be frauds or crooks, merely wanting to take advantage of you,) so everything is to say public here on the board. I deleted the previous post with most of your comments on it

Next I would get a seconds attorney on this,
Real issue, your marriage is not valid, you got married using a false or fake name, so you are not even legally married at this point and time.
