HELP! I have water spots on my painted front door!
We just built a house and live in an area that has MAJOR hard water. Our front door is black and has white water spots all over it. I've tried:
    Shark Portable Steamer
    Windex
    Bathroom Cleaner
    Dishwasher soap
    Dishwasher Rinse Agent
Bar Keepers (this really dulled the area)
    Simple Green

HELP!! What can I do besides repainting? We shouldn't have such a bad problem in the future because we have put in an irrigation system that does not hit the door.

I would appreciate any and all help! Oh... there are spots all over my windows and vinyl shutters, but I think I can get those off.
    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a diluted CLR (the brand name)
    ... rinse it well afterwards...

That is for calcium, lime and rust stains in toilets and sinks.

I can find it in most Supermarkets and hardware stores where I live. I don't know if its distributed outside the USA. If you are outside the USA, you may want to talk to a plumber or someone in a small Hardware store for advice on alternatives.

Its likely its either calcium and or lime deposits you have to deal with.

If you dilute it you may be able to get away with wiping it dry before it air dries.

I agree with Smoothy, you can get CLR at hardware, grocery and big box stores. Before getting into the car I'd try washing the door with a 1:1 mix of vinegar and water, allow to soak for about 1 minute and flush clean and dry with a terri towel
