The title holder is the business. Any signatures are yours representing the business.

Please understand, DBA does not take away any liability from you, only a corporation can do that. So you will still be personally liable for the car in a DBA.

The car title will be in the business name. You sign your name as owner of the business, normally there is a space for "title"

They key for tax purposes isn't the name on the title but proving you used it for business.

I don't see that as the question.

I'm in NY - I could not title my car as a dba because I couldn't get insurance in the name of the dba.

I have a business with a partner and I want her out of it (she's proven to be a disaster). I created the business, the product, and the name of the business (which has our two names in it) - and I love it. I am the designer - and the logo, stationary, website, etc. are already intact and I do...

DBA certificate [ 4 Answers ]

Is getting a DBA certificate worth it? I have been running a small computer services side biz for over 20 years. I hung out a shingle simply by getting a business phone account so I had a Yellow Pages listing. I have always done my taxes as a sole proprietorship. I've never had a biz checking...
