    Name on mortgage but not on deed.
    Hi, I have property in my name and have recently remarried and my husbands name is not on property we would like to refinance to get better rate does his name have to be on deed in order to do so, we live in Michigan. Thanks Michelle

    No, he can get a mortgage in his name alone but if he is not on the deed then he has no property to put up for collateral.

    No, but I would not want my name on the mortgage and not on the deed, ( owe money but no right to property)
