    Depressed puppy?
"Hi. We have a 10 week old Irish Setter, that we got a week ago from a coworker who couldn't keep the dog because of her child's allergies. She got him from a breeder. He eats and drinks, and is even going potty outside for the most part, but doesn't seem to have much energy at all. He doesn't 'play' like other pups do, and sleeps a lot! I am hoping that he is just a laid back puppy, but he just seems off. He really doesn't chew on things like other puppies do either. Any ideas? "

When was the last time he was at the vet? Surely he's due for vaccines shortly.
It's always a good idea to take a new pup to the vet shortly after you get it, even if they aren't due for anything, if even just for a general wellness checkup. It wouldn't hurt. He may just be taking time to settle.

Thank you for your response. We were told that he is "up to date" on all the shots, and was wormed two weeks ago. I think I will take him in asap to make sure nothing more is going on.

It wouldn't hurt. As mentioned he is most likely just taking time to adjust. Stress makes animals pretty tired.

But it's best to be safe rather than sorry.

On another note, at 10 weeks he probably needs one or two more sets of vaccines. Generally they get their shots at 6, 10, and 14 weeks, or more commonly 8, 12 and 16 weeks.
