    trig question
    how do I find the value of the indicated function.
    cot=1/3, find sin, tan. I know the answer is tan=3 how do I do the equation?

    You don't have to do much. You only need to make a sketch.

    The angle is the one on the lower left side of the triangle.

    tan x = 3 as your sketch tells you. Find the length of the hypotenuse using the two sides you know and you'll be able to find sin x and cos x.
