Can we disassemble a furnace to re-level it?
Our furnace is on an plate where the old oil furnace was and now that has broken free and the furnace is starting to "walk" away. We need to take it apart move it and pour a cement pad then move it back. Sadly we have no money and no credit left to pay a tech to do it. My husband is a Mech. Engineer and has extensive experience with high pressure pipes etc, so I think we can disconnect it safely, but have not found instructions to do this anywhere. It will be cold here soon, and we would love to get this done asap! Please help!

What is causing the movement, vibration or what? Can you tell us more about the plate and what's under the plate, maybe even a picture?

My folks put a 95% efficient furnace in their home about 30 years ago and when it was heating, it was horribly loud--I would estimate in the 100 decibel range.
