Replace the main relay, located right of the glove box along the wall of the right kick panel. Over 50% of new aftermarket distributors for Hondas, at AMHD, don't work. The reliability of the remaining ones leaves a lot to be desired. I only recommend genuine Honda distributor housings, where it's fine to install an aftermarket ICM and coil to keep the cost down. You really should only use the same NGK spark plugs that originally came in the car.

Your problem is with the main relay or distributor.

97 honda civic no start condition
Well I found the main relay on the passenger side like you said thanks you so much but no Dice! I did not find any cold solder/broken spot on the board! Car still started up a few time and maybe on the third or fourth time it wouldn't start up again. Could the relay still be bad in spite my findings! OOH by the way when I had said I replace the Distributer I meant the whole unit the cost me almost $175 I've checked it since with my handy spark checker still wking! What do you think

If the distributor housing is not a genuine Honda, as I'm sure it's not since the whole distributor cost $175, I have no confidence in it. The problem is with the internal sensors, not the ICM and coil. Personally, I would replace the main relay and distributor housing--especially after 10 years. Yes, the main relay could still be bad--you need to know what to look for and what constitutes a good solder joint.

Hey did you ever get the PROBLEM FIXED? I have a 1997 Honda Civic Hatchback DX & I'm having starting issues now.

I've replaced the entire distributor with a new one $214.00
New Fuel filter $60.00 something bucks
New NGK SPARK PLUGS $15.00 something bucks
New NGK SPARK PLUG WIRE SET $67.00
    New Battery 65.00 bucks
New Timing Belt & Water Pump $400.00 bucks

And my car is still not starting up sometimes. I'm thinking it might be the MAIN RELAY OR A BAD FUEL PUMP TOO :P
