Matching socks
You have 5 blue socks and 5 brown socks, how many socks do you have to pull from your drawer to guarantee a match.( without looking)

Well, think it through. Suppose you pull the first sock and it's blue. Then you pull the next sock - if it's blue then you have a pair on the 2nd draw and you're done, but if it's brown you don't have a pair yet and so you pull another sock. What happens when you draw that 3rd sock? |
