    Insert your Istall DVD and restart your computer holding down the "c".
    Select a language click next select Utilites and password reset follow the instructions on your screen

    Have no disks. Machine was a gift. All I have is a power cord. Am newbie to Apple.

    Any retail OS disk from the same OS release should boot you far enough to get to the Utilities menue
