Lymph node in groin won't go away
Hey there everyone so a month ago today I was showering when I noticed a large painful lump in my groin, I discovered it was my lymph node and the next day I had what felt like the flu(turned out to be some virus) I went to the doctor and he said not to worry about the node. I got better and the node started to decrease its been 3 weeks since I got better and the node is now painless and just a small lump. I'm worried though why won't it go away. I won't lie I have been poking at it constantly out of concern. Any help though?

The groin area is one major location of four lymph nodes in your body. Lymph nodes serve a very important function in fighting infection in your body and are connected to your immune system. When you have even a minor infection in your body a lymph node will become swollen and red, that means it is fighting the infection. Your doctor is right, don't worry about the node, so stop poking around it. However, when a lymph node does not return to its almost undetected normal size, then you should see your doctor, but the point is, the lymph node you are poking is not sore or red, therefore, it has done its job in fighting the virus that invaded your body.
