Can someone be legall obligated to give out someone else's phone number to a theropist
My ex boyfriend gave his theropis my phone numbe without my permission, I have no desire to talk to a theropist and would have said no if he asked. When I texted him to ask why he did it he said he was legally obligated and that made no sense to me.. can anyone help me?

Anyone can ask for a number, and anyone can give out a number. No laws were broken.

He may have felt obligated in some way because most medical forms require next of kin information or someone who might be able to make decisions in their incapacity.

Sp ask him why he felt obligated. There is no law I know of that would obligate him

If he felt you were going to comment harm to yourself, The therapist may have felt a duty to get involved. Also if he is seeing someone dealing with a current relationship, often they do want to get both people involved

Since you said ex, perhaps he is going because of some problem he had during the relationship

But he gave it, and you told them you did not want to talk, end of the story, he is allowed to give your number out
