Telling us where you were granted permanent residence would help the quality of responses you receive.

I came from Canada to Green Bay Wi, I recently moved to Tennessee. I was only 18 at the time and I didn't know that a social security card wasn't enough. I had no clue about how to keep my status. What do I need to do to ?

If you were granted permanent residence in 1981, if it wasn't CR and you haven't abandoned by being out of the US for a significant period, you are still a permanent resident. PR does not expire.

File form I-90 for a replacement PR card. Please note that if you have any criminal history at all; including arrests, charges, convictions and expungements, you may not be eligible for PR. If so, consult with an experienced immigration attorney.

Consider filing for naturalization. Good luck, keep track of your immigration.

"conditional residence". This is a 2-year card typically given to dependents of a spouse of a USC, where the marriage is less than 2 years at the time permanent residence is approved.
