My town has pear trees. All these gaming sites say that in order to get other fruit trees, you must send a letter to someone who has just moved to your town, and include one of your native fruits. They will reply and send you one of their native fruits, which you can plant and get more trees from.

Ok I have yet to get this to work! What am I doing wrong? I am including the word 'fruit' in the letters also! Are you supposed to send them the letter BEFORE you speak to them for the first time? (That seems weird lol)

A duck named Drake just moved to my town and he walked up and introduced himself and told me where he lived. I then immediately sent him a letter with a pear. He sent me furniture in return. They always send furniture lol.

I remember doing this when I used to play this! I had your same problem. There are two things you can try that I did. The gaming websites you have to send your fruit with the word "fruit" in it to a new town member. Although, I sent about 5 letters to five different town folk (none of them new). And One of them gave me a pear (my native fruit was cherries). Your second, and easiest option, is to have one of your friends who owns the game send you their native fruit. Hopefully they have a different one then yours so that you can sell it for a cool 500 bells a pop. Otherwise your out of luck. I can log on for you too and send you a cherry. Just message me somehow.
