In canada can you move if the dad's name is not on the birth cirtificate?
Me and my boyfriend are still dating and everythings going great but we live in alberta and my whole family lives in ontario I don't have to many friends out here and if were ever to brake up I wouldn't not be able to afford to live here... I gave my daughter my boyfriends last name but have not got a birth cirtificate yet , my boyfriend said if we ever brake up that I can move but one year I would get her and the other year he would but there's no way I could be without my daughter for a whole year I'm so confused on what I should do!! I have no problem with him seeing her I would fly her out on christmas birthdays and summer holidays

I take it you have a girl by another man and you are living with a b/f who is on the birth certificate, right ? Or will soon be? Your post is confusing.

You two are not married apparently, he isn't even on the birth certificate so why are you worrying about where you will move to. He has no rights to your daughter, so move wherever you want.

He can't have y our daughter for a year and you have her for the other year. That is entirely out of the question. How can a child live like that ?

Get yourself sorted out because even talking about eventualities of 'if we ever break up' is not a mature way to handle a relationship with a child involved.

Canadian law is similar to US law on this. Without any court ordered visitation, you can move. But you might be required to move back. He can file for custody and visitation and your having left on your own could prejudice the court against you.
