Violating probation by getting a dwi
I am from Iowa and I am currently on probation for a domestic charge, a couple of nights ago I got into a car accident and was charged with a dwi and am scared what is going to happen to me. I was let out that same night so I am not sure if that isa good thing or a bad thing. Does anyone know what can happen to me?

The Breathalyzer ticket is probable cause to violate your probation since no drinking is probably a stipulation of your probation. Being on probation for domestic violence and then receiving a DUI to boot, isn't good in any judges opinion. I have to be honest with you. If there was alcohol involved in the domestic charge, then I would say that is probably the underlying problem and you really need to seek help in dealing with that problem. A level 3 treatment program right away. Get a DUI evaluation from a court approved treatment provider and then follow the recommendations immediately. When you go to court for the DUI, the judge will see that you are honestly trying to tackle your problem because let's face it, you do have a problem. If you continue your current behaviors, it can only get worse.

Yes, this is not a good thing. Magprob is right on base, You need to report this to your probation officer and need to be on or be getting treatment for the drinking, DUI in itself is serious, (and not punished hard enough normally) So it is time to start addressing the problems that are getting you where you are at

I went through the same thing and I went probation officer and they gave me a secong chance and I think if I were you smart you would stay clean of alcohl and get into some NA meeting and really trully stay clean I think you will be pk but will be on a more intense probation but I don't know your track history so I don't know for sure but if you've only had a couple violations before you should have alout of liniency
