    Neighbor Harassment
My parents purchase a home some 30 years ago that had been vacant for a couple of years, after a few months they notice something was going on late one night and look out to see the lady next door and three boys digging up hedges on the property line.. in addiction to the fact they said that half of the walk way to the back was their's which made impossible for a lawn mower to get through. They call a surveyor who found that the people had moved the line over 4 feet to build an addiction.. which they called legal encroacment.. the law said different. They became victims of severe harassment.. with no help from the police or city because the people had friends there. They told people my parent stole their land, they dug up the stakes by night that the surveyor left... I purchase the hose from my 88 yr old parents. The same has happen to me.. I have fifty or more door dings on my car, trash throw they unraveled a chain link fence and called the city to complain about it.. scraches, pop are some sticky substance all over my car, snow piled on my walk I cannot get to the back... the list goes on and on... I'm tired.. I mean really tired.. I'm a disable Vietnam Vet... the whole family their does it and their friends next to me... they want me to move so they can move the line again, because their driveway is very narrow because they removed an attach garage and place it in their back and built an addiction to their home and wanted to keep their same driveway space.I have nowhere else to go.. I've just tired to take and deal with it spiritualty... but I'm tired and just want peace.. and I see thing heading to a bad place after five years of this.

Hire an Attorney - if the City officials and Police won't help you there is nothing we can add.

I don't understand how the neighbor moved the stakes (and the property line) 4 feet but this is not legal encroachment - ?

I realize you have nowhere else to go - have you thought about selling and using that money to move somewhere else?

Infrared sensitve security cameras and a DVR or VCR are your
    Friends.

Tampering with markers placed by a surveyor is a crime. Tresspassing is a crime, damaging private property is a crime.

Video tapes of the events can prove your claims.

Get a fence company working with a Surveyor the same day to put a chain link fence in the ground with quick setting concrete. Obviously following your local laws regarding setbacks and permits.

The actual proof of the property line is not the wooden stakes, but a buried monument as much as 6 feet underground that can't as easily be moved.

Hi Smoothy And JudyKayTee thanks for reply... they moved the bushes and all traces of original property line.. they placed an iron rod in the middle of the walk way to my backyard and said that was the line, this is before the survey.. after paying $800.00 for a survey the stake that was buried in the back soil was dug up and remove.. ther is another in the front my dad showed me with a plastic cap that someone had tried to remove or disfigure. The survey said it is a crime.. we of course never seen anyone because they wait for you to leave and their so called neighbor friends to lookout.. yes Judy I know they want me to move so they can do the same to the next person.. Thanks you again for advise I'm looking at inexpensive cameras.. I don't understand the world today.. I was taught if you can't get along with a person just "Leave" them alone. I know that people harass others because they want some reaction or sacifaction.. they want you angry, hurt,to move to run,to be afraid etc I fight against theses reactions... Yet I want people who do theses things to know that it is what "You Do" that says who you are,"Not how someone reacts... they are Mental Health issues for certain.

Just be careful when you use the camera - I'm in NY and videoing a neighbor CAN be harassment.

Good point.. you can video your own property and a bit more... just don't point it in their windows.
