I'm talking about this site and specifically the Current Events board. If a visitor were to read this board they'd come away with the feeling that the US is a steaming pot of hatred.

The elitist thinks that the poor downtrodden (pick a disadvantaged minority) simply can not get ahead on his/her own so they have to give him/her what s/he cannot achieve to make him/her "equal."

The bible says if a man doesn't want to work, don't let him eat. Is that the part you're referring to? In other words, the bible tells us to help those truly in need, but if you're able you need to get off your butt and help yourself. Support for the nanny state the left dreams of is not to be found.

Exactly how does THAT equate to "The lord helps those who help themselves."

Which Specifically means you have to work to earn what you desire. It doesn't mean others are obligated to give you what you were too lazy to go out and earn.
