I was reciving $882.00 per.month from s.s. and it cost me $785.00 or more per month
As I was saying above about my income, can they con, to take out $585.00 a month on back child support, when I worked, they did not take over $200.00 per. Month, while so much now, could I not pay a little less a month to the moter, who, own her own business and make more than that a day. How do I get someone to help me, I am a 66 year old man, who suffer from a heart problem, and can not pay for my med. Help someone

If I understand you - your SS is being garnished for back child support, and you're asking if the amount garnished per month can be reduced? Was there a court order that specifies the amount? In general, any garnishment should not exceed 25% of your income.

Do you mean SSI? If you are receiving SSI you don't have to pay child support or back child support. At least this is what I was told when I tried to get my dad for child support. He receives SSI. So if you find out other wise I would love to know.

It depends on the type of SS benefit being paid. Old age and disability SS benefits can be garnished for child support. But you are correct that Supplemental Support Income (SSI) payments can not be.

YOU have no grounds to sue a parent for child support or attempt to collect child support from a parent. Only another parent can do that.

    Please clarify your statement.
