    New grout and tile.
I have had my shower stall completely redone, tile, grout pan and all. A few weeks after the completion the white grout is turning grey in areas and there are long areas of rusty looking grout. All about the lower 3 feet of tile. What is wrong? >E-mail Removed<

    Did you seal the tiles?

The tiles need to be sealed to keep the soap and moisture from building up in the pours.

Any big box store(Menards,Home Depot,Lowes) will have sealer for you, but now you must clean the tiles, ask them for a foaming cleaner for newer grout, then seal.

    Hi Carleann

Sounds like the installer used a dark thinset on the walls when they should have used a white thinset mortar for tile walls with white grout... maybe?

I'd have the installer come back and check the work. Was the work inspected? If you installed a new shower pan and a new shower valve then the work should have been inspected.

Call the installer and see what they think. Let us know what they say... OK?
