    Precharge
    I bought a new heat pump condenser it might be 2 year old from a surplus warehouse do
    The manufactory precharge heat pump with freon an oil

    Most if not all units contain refrigerant when they leave the factory BUT the amount of refrigerant contained in the unit is not in most cases considered an exact charge. The installer will still have to add or remove refrigerant from the system to attain the exact Superheat or Sub-cooling setting as stated or required by the factory design engineering team.

    In other words you just cannot hook it up and let it run. The charge is critical and will need to be adjusted. A recovery/reclaim machine, vac pump, and other professional tools along with an EPA certificate for dealing with refrigerant will be necessary to safety do the job.
