Due to loss of job, I've gotten severely behind on house payments. The mortgage company has foreclosed and is issuing an eviction notice. I have a lot of personal property possession in the yard and no way to move them. How long do I have to get my stuff? And what happens to it if I don't get it in time?

In most instances you lose your belongings - the eviction notice and/or foreclosure notice should explain all of that.

I've seen belongings thrown out, sometimes auctioned or otherwise sold, sometimes safeguarded.

Ask the mortgage company/bank if all else fails.

By federal law you have 90 days from the date the property changed hands to move. As the foreclosure been finalized yet? They can't get an eviction order until the 90 days have passed and you are still occupying the property.

However, once you vacate (either voluntarily or involuntarily) if you leave any belonging they would be considered abandoned.

There are specific laws in most jurisdictions specifying what a landlord must do with "abandoned" property. They can't just throw it out. Same goes for a foreclosing bank.

In my area of NY the foreclosure notice very specifically addresses time frames and what is required of the bank/mortgage company.

If you have things "in the yard" very likely they will get stolen when the house is vacant.

But at the time of the formal eviction, when you are thrown out, they move all of your belongings to the curb ( side of the road) for people to get and take what they want.

*** I have funished many of my rental properties from that, and have a lot of nice things over the years.

So if you know you are being evicted, why not merely move your things
