Can I charge rent for belonging left in house.
Me and my friend moved from out of state to S.C. we agreed to rent a house and split the rent. We moved all the stuff in and she ended up staying at a guys. Now I'm here with all her stuff. Can I still charge rent? There is no lease and she paid rent for the first month. I still have her stuff can I throw it away?

    1. Who's name is on the lease?
    2. How many months has your friend not been paying her share of the rent?

If the lease is in your name, meaning you're solely responsible for the rent payment, I would suggest that you tell the friend to come collect her stuff so that you can sub-let to someone else. You have no obligation to provide storage services for her stuff Alternatively you could sue her in small claims for her share of the rent, but you're relying solely on a verbal contract which is probably hard to enforce.
