I'm in Canada and I have two kids.
Minimum wage is a little over $9/hour, and that's what my sitters get paid, minimum wage.
One kid, two kids, 5 kids, doesn't matter. If you worked in a daycare you'd need your level I child care college course, first aid, and you'd be looking after anywhere from 3-10 kids depending on their age and you'd get minimum wage.
If you actually want to work as a sitter, don't ask for $20/hour, or you'll never get hired.
Minimum wage is fair. Most people won't even pay that though. It's up to you if you're willing to accept less, but asking for more, that's not realistic.
