    Tongue piercing ?
I am 16 and would like to get a tongue piercing. I have a few questions:
    . How painful is it?
. How long does it take to heal?
.how old do you have to be to get one?
. Is it possible to hide it from my parents?

    Hi lilly..
    - getting the actual piercing isn't painful at all, honestly, I went in there and thought id be able to feel it go through and everything but, nothing, didn't feel it.. id say that and my lobes were the least painful piercings I have and I've got quite a few haha.
-it takes around 4-6 weeks for the piercing to heal fully but the pain goes away after 3-5 days.
-in england (where I'm from) you must be over 14 but with parental consent and 16+ with ID.
-no, you won't be able to hide it from your parents, you'll talk with a lisp and literally will only be eating soft food like jelly, ice cream, ice pops, mashed potato, soups etc.

    How old are you?
I wouldn't try and hide it as you'll just lose their trust in you. Prove to them that you're mature enough to get it done.. offer to pay for it, deal with any consequences (school or work) and that if you don't look after it then that's your last piercing until you're legal to get it done on your own. Also make sure you go to a licensed piercing shop and always make sure that the needle comes from an air tight packed, they wear rubber gloves and the jewellery is clean!

If you do get it done, make sure you rinse 3 times a day with non alcoholic mouth wash, brush your tongue with a tongue cleaner and be extra wary of your new piercing. Also if you're going to eat solid food after two days then make sure you're careful not to bite down on it, you may have to move your food to one side of your mouth with your finger, sounds disgusting but its better then hurting your tongue or ripping it. Also try not to tongue kiss or do any other oral activity (you know what I mean) for at least a few weeks because its an open wound. Good luck!

Glad I could help lilly, I'm glad you made the right decision in waiting until your parents approve, very sensible and mature of you.
