How do you stop trespass by neighbor. We've told him at least 6 times?
Our neighbors have been told at least 6 times to stay off our property, and, keep their children, grandchildren, friends, pets, etc. off our property. This has been going on for approximately 4 yrs. They call the police on us constantly. We've put up security cameras and everything else we can think of. The latest issue was last week. We put a security camera on our air conditioner. Big problem in this area with copper being stolen from a/c units. The day my husband put it up the neighbor kept telling him to take it down. My husband explained why he was putting it up and then ignored him. The next day we added a 7 am orange bug light to help highlight the a/c. They called the police. Apparently it was showing on their brick and window. Police told us they informed the neighbor they could file a civil suit on us. Next day we put up an infrared day/night camera. Any suggestions?

I think we need more information.
Why are they coming on your property? I mean what do they do when they are there?
Are they climbing your fence? What reasons are they giving?
Also, it seems reasonable for them to complain if you shine a light on their house and in their window. Can you turn the light off?
It sounds like you are feuding. This can escalate and become dangerous. It would be better to try to get along with them if possible.
Just for your information, outdoor lighting does not decrease crime and may even increase it in some cases, because light makes it easier for criminals to work and move around. They hesitate to go into a strange area where they can't see anything.

I agree there is more to this. You can try to sue them for harassment by filing false police reports.

Only one thing -- I do not lie and I do not file false police reports. I think it's a sad day to have to call the police on them. So, we will not call again until we are physically hurt or they ram our house with some vehicle.

First, I think you misunderstood me. I neither accused you of lying or suggested that you file a false police report. You stated that they call the police on you constantly. So I was suggesting that you sue THEM over THEIR false reports.
And no one accused you of lying, but every story has two sides. And it seems to us that there is more to this story that you aren't telling, not because you are hiding anything but because you may not feel its relevant. For example, you state they are frequently trespassing, but you don't say how or why. What need would they have to be on your property?

No , if they get hurt on YOUR property they will sue you, does not matter if they are tresspassing or not, a burgular breaking into your home, if he gets hurts due to some neglect can sue you even.
So do you have a fence, if not why ?
Do you have no tresspassing signs, if not why not ?
And why are you not calling the police with evidence ( camera photos)

If they are trespassing and if you have told them to stay off your property, you are within your rights to call the police. Still not clear why you have not called the police and they have.

Thank you all. I have called the police on them. My apologies, I did misunderstand the answer. Banging on my door while ringing the doorbell at 11:00 p.m. is in my view - trespassing. I will put up trespass signs and will keep a journal to take to the prosecuting attorney for help in prosecuting them for harassment. Again, thank you all for your input.

Actually that's not trespassing, but it is harassment. What explanation are they giving when this happens?
